Synopsis
For more than 40 years, Patrick Battstone has been professionally involved with music, working as a band leader, playing piano as a soloist and band member, teaching jazz piano to MIT students, and occasionally as a Rhodes technician. He has play in rock, blues, jazz, pop, and big band settings and is both comfortable and competent in all. Since his arrival in Boston in 1973, he has sought out the best teachers which include Serge Conus, Mme. Margaret Chaloff, Charlie Banacos, Joanne Brackeen, and Paul Bley, not to mention Berklee Music School. He cites his main influences as Bill Evans and Miles Davis, though he has studied the musical approaches of “just about everyone that I’ve heard”. He is currently actively working in various ensembles in the Boston area.
